Valentine’s Day [The Movie]

Posted in Everyday by Witt on February 13, 2010

It has been a while since the last time I saw a movie on its first showing. We used to endure long, long queues to get tickets to new screenings. Thanks to the introduction of technology to various services, now we can get almost anything online. I had reserved two tickets of Valentine’s Day [The Movie] through sureseats.com. Too bad it didn’t support Smart Money being it is an Ayala-owned entity (owner’s of Globe Telecom) :(. I think business is business. You must integrate everything into your product, whether it is a competitor or what not. If it aims to generate income, let it be. Anyway, a little reservation fee = bypass long, full of phonies queue, a thing Abbie likes best.

The Movie:

A film by Garry Marshall of Pretty Woman fame, features an ensemble cast of Hollywood’s hottest stars. Notice character-actor Hector Elizondo, I believe he’s if not in all, but most of Marshall’s movies.

Begins with florist/flower shop proprietor Reed (Ashton Kutcher) proposing to his career-minded girl Morley (Jessica Alba). I wish Morley had all her scenes in a bikini for it only lasted two seconds ๐Ÿ˜€

The next storyline, an illicit affair between Dr. Copeland (Patrick Dempsey) and school teacher Julia (Jennifer Garner). Ends in a classic restaurant bashing from Julia. Sweet!

This couple I like: the adult phone entertainer Liz (Anne Hathaway) and the mailroom boy Jason (Topher Grace). Liz’s bondage talk in an Eastern European accent with Vladimir via phone is hilarious. Watch out for her boss, Paula’s (Queen Latifah) turn to entice Vladimir. Funny!

14-hour plane ride with the lovely Capt. Kate (Julia Roberts) and suave Holden (Bradley Cooper). Nice pairing.

Anything with Jamie Foxx in it is fun. Here he plays second-best sportscaster Kelvin who falls for the stunning publicist Kara (Jessica Biel). Unlikely duo, but works perfectly.

Comic relief? In comes ditsy cheer dancer Felicia (Taylor Swift) who’s madly in love with super jock Willy (Taylor Lautner) and her big white bear.

Young Love: the naked acoustic singer Alex (Carter Jenkins) and the virgin Grace (Emma Roberts). No backseat love here.

Seasoned Love: the very classy Estelle (Shirley MacLaine) and the romantic Edgar (Hector Elizondo). Love celebrated at the cemetery.

Cute moment with young Edison (Bryce Robinson) buying a musical card and flowers for his mysterious Valentine. He’s in love.

Spoiler: Football star Sean (Eric Dane) says “I am gay and I will play!”

Bestfriend falls for bestfriend. Happy ending ๐Ÿ™‚

Verdict: Little cheese here. See it with your bestfriend. Enjoy the movie.
